| so, i'm still in the process of getting married. 37 days to go...
this is a pretty big milestone in my life.
i can't say that i even had a clue as to how much stuff there is to be done in preparation for a wedding. i guess we didn't make it easier on ourselves when we chose new york city as the location but hey, i'm glad we did. it'll be fun. i have a feeling that a lot of people are excited about it. i also feel like some people are kind of getting annoyed by it as well.
it's been an interesting time nonetheless. i'm learning a lot about myself and others.
i'm just ready for this to be all done.
words of wisdom ad encouragement are greatly appreciated.

| short update:
things are zooming by!!
i'm still busily working at my job in the laboratory. i'm a laboratory technician doing various environmental tests, mainly on water. it's pretty fun. :)
in case you have not seen my proposal footage, check it out on facebook (check on my profile and click on "view videos of me" underneath my profile pic) or on youtube----> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F6iIL2sNcXs
i'm awkward.
so for those of you keeping up with my wedding plans, I officially recruited the help of two great friends Rachel and Christina with Signature Events to help me coordinate and plan my wedding. I'm super excited to be able to have them help me out. We are pretty sure on the wedding venue being the Goethe Institute in NYC. (right on Fifth Avenue, directly across from the Metropolitan Museum of Art). It's a sweet deal for being in the city (and in such a great location). But since it is a little small, our wedding shall be one of a more intimate nature. But it'll still be fun!!
Also, I recently decided on my wedding dress. I tried on a dress one night (among other dressed) at this small bridal boutique and I liked it so I noted it as one of my favorites in the store. But once I got home, the following few days, I just kept thinking about the dress. I couldn't stop. So I went back in on Saturday (with my mom and dad) and made sure that that dress was for me. Well, it's mine now. (well ,technically it isn't but it will be soon. i paid for half of it already). it was a little more expensive then i wanted but i got a great discount off of the original price so i had to get it. plus, you only get married once (my dad even said).
Woohoo. It's a huge load off of my mind now that I have a dress.
it's a busy november. my birthday is coming up. a day trip into the city is in store to visit the venue and to see some bakeries who shall be prospective "caterers" for the reception. also, thanksgiving is coming. and hopefully i will see my brother sometime this month as well.
keep updated with our website(especially for the actual wedding details): christopherandemi.com (not up yet but it will be running soon). also our wedding planning blog: http://thomases.wordpress.com/
thats all for now.....

| whoa.
it's the end of september. i must say, i love this weather. i love that it's getting cold. time for hoodies, sweaters, scarves, hot chocolate, fireplaces, big blankets, and s'mores(!!).
it's been quite a while since my last update. i'm not entirely sure why i don't update this thing much anymore. sorry, if anyone still attempted to faithfully read this.
well, a lot has happened.
i currently have a job working in a laboratory. i mostly do environmental testing. right now, i'm doing a lot of the same experiments since we are overdue on some tests. but, i enjoy it. i like hands-on type of stuff. i wear jeans and a lab coat everyday at work. i can't say i feel very pretty.
my best friend, christina, is getting married in 17 days. holy cow. i've really been looking forward to it. all the preparations and planning is finally coming to a close. i can honestly say that i'm very excited for her. as i'm nearing the age of marriage myself (wink wink), i can appreciate a wedding for what it really represents. it's going to be beautiful.
in other news, i'm engaged. (in case you have not heard)
i'm engaged to a wonderful person, christopher thomas. i'm quite smitten.
his friends taped the proposal , so i shall post it sometime when i actually get the footage myself. (i'm a little embarrassed). he proposed to me while we were in indiana, visiting purdue. he was quite the sneaky one sending me garbled text messages which had "will you marry me?" encoded into them. i got them on my phone all throughout the weekend and i just assumed it was spam or something. little did i know that i was going to come across another garbled message while we were walking around campus. we went to this open area where there were 14 people standing silently in a line each holding a letter. the message that they spelled out made no sense at all. christopher remarked, "wait, that's not right" as we neared them and then each person flipped over their letter and this time the message spelled out "wil you marry me". he got down on one knee and pulled out a piece of paper which had the question mark on it holding the ring. he said some things (later which i found out was quite romantic but at the time i was so flabbergasted that i didn't hear what he was saying) and then he popped the question.
of course, i said yes.
get ready friends. 2008. emi shall become a thomas. (er, matsushita thomas to be exact..but no hyphen.... i'm just keepin my last name as a second middle name)
yay.

| things are finally settling down. (all in God's timing for sure)
i'm working a lot more and that makes me feel much better. it really makes a difference to feel stable with my finances. i am able to pay the bills that i need to ay and have a little extra for some enjoyable things as well. however, there are some more things to pay off in the near future so i'm still trying to be thrifty with my money. man, money = stress. you just don't really realize it until you are fully on your own...as an adult. i plan to save as much as i can because i want to do some exciting things with my life..and i hope to do it semi-soon. but i'll keep you posted on those plans. :)
anyhoo, last night christopher and i went with his buddies ashley and eric to a indie movie theater downtown. we saw michael moore's new movie called 'sicko" about america's health care system. it really opened my eyes to a lot of things within this country. hearing about the way things are in other countries really blew my mind. for example, in france, people have national health care (which EVERYONE in their country access to care ANYWHERE...doctors don't handle any money or deny anyone care because they don;t have the right insurance....the government also encourages pregnant women to take off for long period and also provied them aid as recovering new mothers and for anyone who is sick, they will give them as much time off as they need to fully recover...and the person will still be paid by their employer) and they go to college for free. now, they have high taxes of course, but they are still able to live comfortably because they don't have debt like we do in the states. whoa. i can't even imagine not having debt. i mean, how many people do we know that don't have debt? it's a rare case indeed.
the film definitely made me think. i encourage everyone to see it.
also, i'm quite proud to announce that i will soon be the owner of mike (the dog). a family was giving him away because he was jealous of their new baby getting all the attention. they are quite sad and reluctant to give him away but they knew it had to be done. they will be dropping him off this tuesday. i'm so excited! it's been a while since i've had a furry friend and i am very much looking forward to him coming to live with me.
